Arabic Conversation Club

Arabic Conversation Club is a place for students to use Arabic in a casual setting. Practising your skills in the classroom is important, but it is not like real life. In the classroom, you often focus on one skill and one item. After learning the rules your teacher gives you time to practise using the item. You have your papers in front of you and the rules are fresh in your mind. Will you remember how to use your skills next week, or next year? In a Conversation Club, you get a chance to practise many different skills in a setting that is more like real life.

It is an open class for students to discuss different issues with at least one native instructor in attendance. This program provides an opportunity for students to practice what they have learned through active ineraction. Here students will further develop their communications skills through reading, speaking, and listening.
Each class is divided into 3 sessions:

  • Reading stories, articles and books followed by discusion.
  • Listening and watching Arabic series, news, or programs followed by discussion.
  • Free time - an open session for conversation and discussion with fellow students and instructor.

Topics inlude social, cultural, religious, economic, current, local and international issues.

The total duration of the course is 20 hours. Classes consist of two and a half hours a day session, twice a week.
